'my sin weighted on me heavy but i am no longer bound. as sure as Christ wears the crown i know that grace will abound. and even when i feel lost i know in You i am found.'

my God.

By popular demand, I am back on the blogging world. Okay, by popular demand I mean 3 people. I’m not sure I have anything outstanding to say or blog about. But I know those three people would want to hear anything I have to say. And that’s not a testament to the value of the things I say; that’s a testament to the kind of friends I have-the kind that care about what I have to say even when I have nothing worth saying. Anyway, I’ll try to say something worthwhile for those of you who know better than to listen to everything I say.

The other day (okay, June 15th to be precise so really the other month), I was reading in Genesis and I came across the verse that tells me that I am made in the image of God. I’ve heard that for over half my life but I think that might have been the first time I really sat to think about what it means for me to be made in the image of God. And I like what He had to tell me.

My God is Creator-thus I am creative and am made to create.

My God is Love- thus I am capable of loving. His heart beats to love His people. And so should mine. And I am not only made to give but to receive love, too.

My God is just-thus I am made to know in my heart what is just and to seek justice with my life.

My God is mercy-thus I am designed to lavishly give mercy. Even when I don’t want to.

My God is kind-thus I am made to be kind.

My God is patient-thus I, too, can be patient.

My God is good-thus evil does not master me. Goodness does.

My God is gracious-thus grace upon grace defines me. And can be what defines my love for others.

My God is joy-thus joy is mine. Always.

My God shows compassion-thus my heart was made to show compassion. It was made to touch and be touched by the heart of others.

My God is beauty-thus so am I.

My God makes beautiful things-thus I can be used as an instrument of redemption in a world of ugly things.

My God is a shepherd-thus I am also capable of leading and caring for others. Like a shepherd does- bravely and with great care.

My God is a fighter-thus I don’t have to just dream about being a fighter one day- I am one. I am made to fight for the things that matter.

My God is a giver-thus I can give joyfully and generously because I know I am always taken care of.

My God is alive-and so am I. So am I.

My God is so I am. And I mean that literally- without Him I wouldn’t exisit.

My God is so many things that I will never be. My God is infinite, all powerful, all knowing, divine, does all things well. My God is perfect. And I am most certainly none of those things. Well besides perfect obviously. Just kidding. But you know, I am made in the image of my Creator. And my Father. And what that means for me (and for you) is that in His divine power, He has given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). Wow.

So there you go James, Cros, and RDL. I’m back.

My God is my Father.
